Kili mooku manga pachadi (Totapuri ambyachi chatni)

The first recipe I want to share with you is that of manga pachadi or mango chutney. This is very easy to prepare and keeps well in the fridge for about a week.

Ingredients

Semi ripe Totapuri mango (kilimooku manga) 3 nos
Coconut oil 2 tbsp
Red chillies 2-3 nos
Salt 1/2 tsp
Jaggery 1 cup
Curry leaves 4-5 nos
Mustard seeds 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida a pinch

Cooking time:15 mins

Method
  1. Skin the mangoes (can leave the skin on which makes the cooking time longer) and slice into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Heat some coconut oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds curry leaves and red chillies.
  3. Add the asafoetida and the chopped mangoes.
  4. Add the salt and cook till mango reaches jam-like consistency.
  5. Add the jaggery and stir well to incorporate it.
  6. Let the jaggery melt and cook till the oil separates.
  7. Let it cool and store in fridge.
  8. Can be served hot. Goes well with chapati,roti and bread as well as rice.
